NANO Nuclear Energy, a cutting edge and vertically integrated leading company in advanced nuclear technology has just made a significant breakthrough by adopting the novel Annual Linear Induction Pump (ALIP) to their portable microreactors. This ALIP technology belongs to physicist and engineer dr. Carlos O. Maidana is set to revolutionize NANO Nuclear’s ‘ODIN” microreactor design, a clean energy, portable micro nuclear reactor in development, which places the company at the forefront of innovating nuclear energy.
NANO Nuclear’s microreactors make nuclear energy cutting edge in that it mobilizes nuclear energy and increases its accessibility. This new ALIP technology is pivotal for their microreactors because it relies on electromagnetic over mechanical pumps to create efficient and reliable circulation of coolant. This process is essential for normal operation and passive heat removal. Heat removal is crucial to prevent the reactor from overheating, breaking down, and damage to nearby structures and systems.
Dr. Maidana has agreed to collaborate with NANO Nuclear as a consultant on further development of the ALIP technology with a view towards achieving SBIR Phase III Award status. These efforts will build on previous Department of Energy grants for the technology, aggregating over $1.37 million in prior phases. NANO Nuclear will provide funding (estimated to be around $350,000) and other resources necessary for the Phase III project, and Dr. Maidana will be the Principal Investigator on this project.
Within a year, NANO Nuclear aims to commercialize the ALIP technology, with potential applications extending beyond their own microreactors to other advanced reactors in the fission and fusion energy industries. Its capabilities extend pervasively, encompassing components used in liquid metal and molten salt-based nuclear reactors. Leading-edge designs of nuclear reactors leverage these substances for cooling and heat transfer in both fission and fusion energy sectors, alongside applications in advanced materials, space exploration, marine propulsion, and high-temperature industrial processes.
The nuclear industry is witnessing a resurgence, driven by the need for clean and reliable energy. Companies like Cameco Corporation and NuScale Power are notable players, pushing the boundaries of nuclear technology. NANO Nuclear’s recent acquisition and consistent release of good news have positioned it as one of the most successful IPOs of 2024, with the stock up by 400% since their IPO in May of this year.
The recent acquisition of ALIP technology emphasizes their commitment to advancing microreactor technology and reinforces their position as a leader in the sector. With strong market performance and a positive outlook, NANO Nuclear is making waves in the industry.
