- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced a $50 million grant for community-based energy projects located in rural and remote areas.
- The goal of the funding is to increase energy affordability and promote climate resilience in rural areas with fewer than 10,000 people.
- With the support of the President, there is greater momentum than ever before for the push to a sustainable future.
What are some things that are in your daily routine? Before you think about things such as brushing your teeth, eating breakfast, or showering, think about the little things. You flip a light switch, you open your fridge, you turn on the stove. All of these actions require energy.
Obviously, energy costs money to have. To many of us, energy is something we take for granted. Those less fortunate don’t have access to an affordable, sustainable source of energy. As part of President Biden’s “Investing in America agenda,” the U.S. department of energy (DOE) recently announced a $50 million grant, funded by the Bipartisan infrastructure Law for community-based energy projects located in rural and remote areas across the country.
The goal of the funding is to increase energy affordability to rural communities with less than 10,000 people. A dollar amount of $500,000-$5,000,000 will be supplied to those areas to aid in the shift towards a sustainable energy future.
In order for the entire country to succeed in the shift to a completely sustainable energy source, every part of America needs to be up to par with the technology and capabilities to do so.
It is estimated that nearly one in six Americans living in rural communities are faced with unique energy challenges. A majority of these communities are in need of clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions. For those communities that are in desperate need of the funding, the DOE has removed the cost-share requirement and has sped up the application process for projects asking for $500,000-$5,000,000.
The push to Sustainable energy is greater than ever, and especially with support from leaders such as the President, the process will speed up going forward.
